According to the study “Metaverse for brands” conducted by Sortlist, 22% of companies see the Metaverse as the “future” of business. In the same line, more than 15% understand it as a new way of doing business. They also say that by 2026, 25% of people will spend at least one hour a day immersed in work, shopping, education, social bonding, and entertainment activities in the Metaverse. The working environment and professionals will have to reinvent themselves soon to adapt to a market conditioned by the rise of this phenomenon.
In addition, according to the report titled The Potential Global Economic Impact of the Metaverse by Analysis Group and commisioned by Meta, this virtual universe could contribute about $3,000 million to the world GDP in 2031, which is 2.8% of the total.
New technologies force the working environment and professionals to reinvent themselves to adapt to a market conditioned by the rise of the Metaverse. Giancarlo Valente, a co-founder of Aulab, a company that specializes in training in the field of web development, explained that “educational infrastructures are the first link to train competent professionals in the digital and technological field.”

Under this premise, Aulab shared the seven roles and occupations that will be the most sought after by companies after the growth of the Metaverse:
Hardware engineers: The Metaverse demands cameras, headphones, sensors, and more technology to operate. For its development, these types of professionals will be needed to manage and install the infrastructure so that all these devices work properly.
Metaverse and virtual reality scientists: It is necessary to process and manage the information found in the virtual world, and this is where these scientists come to the stage.
Security engineers: In the Metaverse, it is crucial to guarantee the protection of user’s data, and, for this reason, the blockchain becomes fundamental as a security and data management system.
Experts in NFT: Their function is to analyze trends in the technology sector to know how to take advantage of opportunities and offer new plans. It also requires knowledge of blockchain technology.
Virtual reality software engineers: Metaverse development requires engineers with both virtual reality and augmented reality skills. In addition, these profiles must know 3D technologies and be familiar with tools related to extended reality and programming language.
Ecosystem developer: This person’s role is to coordinate the team to ensure that virtual features can be applied on a large scale.
3D video game designers: They are responsible for creating the characters and the storylines and designing the configuration and gameplay of the avatars that navigate the Metaverse, according to human resources data.
